Our charism is our unique call from God to live our vocation within the Church. All is His grace – charis. God has called us to a contemplative life which is dedicated solely to the praise and worship of God. Love of its very nature cannot be contained but must be given; thus our love of God and one another goes out to the whole world.
Our vows of poverty, chastity, obedience and enclosure are gifts from our Lord that we dedicate to His love for us.
The Poor Clare dedicates herself to a life of prayer and penance. By a strange irony, worldly pleasures quickly turn to ashes and leave only sorrow and frustration in the heart, but sacrifice spreads a perfume of joy in the soul and over the world.
Contemplative Prayer
Contemplative Prayer is explained in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 2709 - 2719). The Church teaches that it is the prayer of the child of God, of the forgiven sinner who agrees to welcome the love by which he is loved and who wants to respond to it by loving even more (Luke 7:36-50; 19:1-10). It is the pre-eminently intense time of prayer.

Consecrated Virginity
Consecrated virginity partakes of the union between Christ and His Bride the Church. It is the positive, eager commitment of the whole self to the Divine Bridegroom. That is why the Church's ancient ceremonial for the consecration of virgins, which is still used today, has for its climax the placing of a wedding ring on the finger of the newly-professed nun.

Our Vows
